On May 21 at 2 p.m., come to  the Color Me Calm Adult Coloring Club at the Middleburgh Library.

Do you need a relaxing activity to melt away stress?  Join our Color Me Calm Adult Coloring Club! This program allows adults to create wonderful pictures and offers a fun and unique way to unwind and express creativity. Plus, it can actually lower stress.

Please note that this is not a structured program. Drop-in and color at your leisure. Materials will be provided. No registration is required.

Drop-in Story Time

On May 22 at 10:45 a.m., get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children ages up to age 5 and their caregivers.

We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mania

Every Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., including on May 25, a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how.  No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

Join us on May 22 at 5:15 p.m. for Insight Meditation.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this.

Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience.

We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors. Give it a try.  No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Wednesday Matinée

“Loving Vincent:, wichi is rated PG-13, will be screened at the library on May 23 at 1 p.m.

Nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Animated Film, “Loving Vincent” is a masterpiece.  A year after the death of the artist, Vincent van Gogh, Postman Roulin gets his slacker son, Armand, to hand deliver the artist’s final letter written to his now late brother, Theo, to some worthy recipient after multiple failed postal delivery attempts.

No registration is required. Free popcorn will be served.

Concert

Gathering Sparks will perform at the library on May 23 at 7 p.m.

You will come to listen, and walk away singing. Gathering Sparks is the graceful collision of Eve Goldberg and Jane Lewis — musical friends who blend tight harmonies, finely crafted songs, and a love of participatory singing to create an intimate and uplifting experience.

Their inclusive approach embraces folk, pop, blues, and gospel influences tastefully played on acoustic guitar, piano, accordion, and ukulele.

A $10 donation is suggested. Tickets are available at the door. Please use the library’s back entrance.

This event is made possible in part with public funds from the Decentralization Program and the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Community Arts Grant Program by the Greene County Council on the Arts.

Tai Chi

An Introduction to Tai Chi for Health and Wellness will be presented on May 24 at 11 a.m.

A time-tested and complete movement art that helps an individual focus on health and well-being, Tai Chi has been shown to improve strength and suppleness, balance, and immune function. It lowers stress levels and helps the individual manage pain or problems like high blood pressure and arthritis.

Tai chi benefits people at all ages and fitness levels. While it is accessible to people who are elderly or inactive, it has the depth to challenge the athletic, and broaden the abilities of either.  It cultivates mental focus and relaxation, both essential for personal wellness and productivity.

Knitting Circle

Friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven’t seen any yet!) knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more on thursdays at the library. Come on May 24 at 7 p.m.

You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others — or just craft in the company of friends.  Drop in anytime! No registration is required.
