Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, May 8, 2019

The Kennedys, an American folk-rock band, will perform at the Middleburgh Library

On Thursday, May 16, at 7 p.m., The Kennedys, an American folk-rock band, will perform at the Middleburgh Library.

Husband and wife Pete and Maura Kennedy are recognized for their harmonies and instrumental prowess, blending elements of country music, bluegrass, Western swing, and jangle pop.

This event is made possible in part with public funds from the Decentralization Program and the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Community Arts Grant Program by the Greene County Council on the Arts.

No registration is required. Tickets are available at the door. A $10 donation is suggested. Please use the library’s back entrance.

Board meets

On May 13, at 6 p.m. the Board of Trustees will meet. The public is welcome.

Drop-in Story Time

Come to the Middleburgh Library on May 14 at 10:45 a.m. for Drop-in Story Time.

This fun and interactive program is meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome.

We read books, sing songs, play games, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mahjong

On May 14, from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the library’s Community Room, as they do every Tuesday, to play Mahjong.

Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.  

Insight Meditation

On May 14, at 5:15 p.m., a meditation group will meet at the library.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors.

Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Storytime

On May 15, at 11 a.m.  Storytime with Miss Doreen. The theme is May Flowers.

Concert

On May 16, at 7 p.m. come to the library for "The Kennedys." The Kennedys are an American folk-rock band, consisting of husband and wife Pete and Maura Kennedy. Tai Chi

On May 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. join us for  Tai Chi and Qigong, from China, the cultivation of human energy Gentle slow movements, strengthen the body and calm the mind. These practices have been used for agility, balance, cognition and longevity. Suggested donation, $5. Please use back entrance as the library is closed on Fridays.

HEGS

On May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Home Educators of Schoharie County is a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities. We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County.  Please check out our facebook page. Or contact Rebecca at for more information. We will meet the first and third Friday of each month.

Deco Patch Picture Frames

On May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon join us in creating a unique picture frame full of pattern and colors!  We will be suing the beautiful Deco Patch Papers, used to create last year's bracelets, to transform a small, plain, unfinished wooden frame into a fun and colorful border. A great way to show off that special photo, message or small work of art. For adults and children 12 and up. Material fee is $5 per frame (limit of 2 per person) paid to the instructor at the class.  Registration is required.
