Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, May 6, 2016

On Monday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m., the Middleburgh Library’s board of trustees will meet. This meeting is open to the public. Please join us. The holiday does not affect the board meeting.

Story time

On Tuesday, May 10, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the library for drop-in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mania

On Tuesday, May 10, at 1 p.m. men and women are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong.  No experience or registration is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun.

Insight Meditation

On Tuesday, May 10, at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice. All are welcome. No registration is required..

Chair Yoga

On Wednesday, May 11, at 9 a.m. join Vicki DeGroff in the community room for Chair Yoga. There is a $5 donation.

Discovery Wednesday

On Wednesday, May 11, at 11 a.m., get ready for some rhyming fun  We'll be watching "Robot Zot" and more rhyming stories. This program is appropriate for ages 3 and up and their caregivers. Registration is required. You can register on line at www.middleburghlibrary.info. For Science, we love it!   Volcanoes, anyone? How do you clean dirty pennies? Make water beads disappear.  Come join us this week and learn about all things scientific.

Movie

On Wednesday, May 11, at 1 p.m., join us for the Wednesday matineé showing of "Joy," rated  PG-13.

Tai Chi

On Thursday, May 12, at 10 a.m. join us for Beginning Tai Chi or at 11 a.m. for Advanced Tai Chi. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Registration is suggested.

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m., the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider, and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here, share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.

Gardening

On  Saturday, May 14. From 10:30 a.m. to noon, join us for Gardening 101 with  Schoharie County master gardener volunteers. They will offer a vegetable gardening class at the library.   We'll discuss when to start your seeds, where to site your garden, how to plant and maintain your garden, transplants,  mulching, weeding,  and more.  Attendees will receive some free vegetable seeds.  Registration is requested.

More knitting

On Saturday, May 14, at 12:30 p.m., join us for  Knitting Needle Ninjas. Hey, you knitters (and crocheters) you all rock. But there are tons of people out here that want to join your club and learn how to knit or crochet. Come out and teach your skill to a child, teen, or adult.  We will begin meeting Saturday afternoons at 12:30 p.m., to start, but will adjust the day and time if needed.

Registration is required.  Please sign up at the circulation desk or online.

Book club

On Saturday, May 14, at 1 p.m.,  our newest book club will discuss cooking by the vegan book.    Every month, a cookbook will be selected and will be at the circulation desk for you to borrow or peak at and we'll print up a recipe of your choice. Sign up online and tell us which recipe you are making so we don't have duplicates. You can also register in the library at the circulation desk. Prepare your recipe, then bring it to the meeting to share with other participants. It's that simple.  For the month of May the book will be, “Chloe's Vegan Italian Kitchen” by Chloe Coscarelli.  Registration is required.
