Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, April 25, 2019

From now until May 4, DVDs and CDs will be on sale in the foyer of the Middleburgh Library. Each one costs a dollar.

Drop-in Story Time

Come to the Middleburgh Library on April 30 at 10:45 a.m. for Drop-in Story Time.

This fun and interactive program is meant for children up to age 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome.

We read books, sing songs, play games, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mahjong

On April 30, from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the library’s Community Room, as they do every Tuesday, to play Mahjong.

Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.  

Insight Meditation

On April 30, at 5:15 p.m., a meditation group will meet at the library.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors.

Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Support Group

On April 30, from 6:20 to 7:30 p.m. join us for the  Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group. This program is open to anyone caring for an Alzheimer's patient.

Storytime

On May 1, at 11 a.m. come to the library for  Storytime with Miss Doreen. We love our Mothers and Grandmothers.

Tai Chi

On May 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. join us for  Tai Chi and Qigong, from China, the cultivation of human energy Gentle slow movements, strengthen the body and calm the mind. These practices have been used for agility, balance, cognition and longevity. Suggested donation, $5. Please use back entrance as the library is closed on Fridays.

HEGS

On May 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Home Educators of Schoharie County is a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for the sharing of educational opportunities. We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County.  Please check out our facebook page. Or contact Rebecca at for more information. We will meet the first and third Friday of each month.

Board Games for Adults

Stop in and have some fun on May 4 from 2  to 10 p.m.

Growing Citrus in New England

On May 6 at 1 p.m. join us for Growing Citrus in New England. Houseplants are a fun hobby, but most have no food value. What if you could grow citrus plants like lemons, oranges, and limes right in your living room? Learn how to grow citrus, as well as bananas, pomegranates, olives, coffee, and even vanilla orchids and other spices at home. Learn what plants are hardy in your USDA zone, and whether or not they are self-pollinating or require a second plant. Participants take home an exotic plant of their choice.  Registration is required.

Budget vote

On May 7 from noon to 8 p.m. the Middleburgh Library Budget Vote will be in the Community Room.  Please come and support your library.
