Middleburgh Library Notes for Tuesday, March 30, 2021

We are opening our doors to patrons at the Middleburg Library. You can come in and browse the stacks, use the computer, print, make copies, or fax at half-hour blocks. We will continue to provide curbside service.

Please note: We can have only 10 people inside the library at a time. At this time, there is no seating and no use of public restrooms. Masks are required at all times while in the library and gloves, which are provided, must be used, handling  books. We look forward to seeing you!

Story times

On April 6 at 10:45 a.m., Stay-at-Home Story Time will be held online. Join Miss Terry for a fun, interactive story time for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We will read stories, sing songs, play games, and participate in activities around a weekly theme.

Registration is required. This story time will take place on the Zoom platform. Once you register, you will receive the Zoom join link.

Meditation

On April 6, at 5:15 p.m., our popular Insight Meditation group meets virtually.
What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this.

Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others, to allow understanding and compassion to arise, to encourage loving-kindness and patience.

We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors. Registration is required. Please go to our website to register and receive the Zoom link.

 Excel

On April 7 at 6:30 p.m., go online to join “Let’s Talk Excel & Google Sheets.” Learn how to open, save, download, and share a spreadsheet; create a table, enter numbers, make calculations, sort, filter, and more!

Our facilitator is Aneesa Hussain. This project, supported by funds from the New York State Library’s Adult Literacy Library Services Program, is an event by the Schoharie Library, the Community Library, and the Middleburgh Library. Register on our website.

Book talk

On April 8 at 1 p.m., join our book discussion on “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot. Entertainment Weekly describes the book this way: “The story of modern medicine and bioethics — and, indeed, race relations — is refracted beautifully, and movingly.”

Book Bundles

Are you having trouble finding books for yourself, your children, your parents or an elderly neighbor? Does your child love trucks, bugs, or super heroes? Are you interested in finding out more about knitting, drawing, or speaking another language?

Let us help! Contact Rebecca at and let her know what you are looking for. She will research, gather, and collect library material and you can pick up your books.

Check out the Middleburgh Library Facebook Page for Hidden Items pictures, coloring pages, and craft kits you can pick up at the library.
