Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, March 29, 2018

Come to the library April 2 through April 7 to vote in the Peeps Diorama Contest for Peep-les Choice Award. Make sure you come on in and vote for your favorite Peeps Diorama this week.  The winner will be announced on Monday April 9th.

Storytime

On April 3 at 10:45 a.m. drop in and get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mania

Every Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., including on April 3, a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don’t know how to play?  No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

On April 3 at 5:15 p.m. join us for meditation practice. What do you want most deeply?  Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors.  give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Story time with Miss Doreen

On April 4 at 11 a.m. join master storyteller, Doreen McCoy, for a fun storytime. Stories, fingerplays, songs and a craft for little ones two years old and up with their caregivers. No registration required.

Mahjong Mania

Wednesday Matinee

On April 4 at 1 p.m., watch "Ferdinand" (PG-13). After Ferdinand, a bull with a big heart, is mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure.

Kids Crafternoon

On April 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. we're cleaning out the craft closet and letting you create to your heart's content. Make anything you want in the time provided. Appropriate for kids in Pre-K and up. Younger children should have a caretaker with them. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.  

Knitting Circle

On April 5 at 7 p.m., friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven't seen any yet!) will knit and cr,ochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others- or just craft in the company of friends.

HEGS

On April 6 from 10 a.m. to noon join Home Educators of Schoharie County a group of homeschooling families with a wide variety of backgrounds, approaches to education, and religious affiliations. We exist to provide secular support for homeschooling families, offer information about homeschooling, and to allow for sharing of educational opportunities. We hope to increase public awareness, acceptance, and support of home education in Schoharie County.

Dinner and a Movie

On April 6 at 5:30 p.m. join us for a showing of  "The Greatest Showman" (PG). This film celebrates the birth of show business, and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

The library will provide pizza and drinks and you bring a snack or dessert to share. Registration is required and space is limited
