Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, March 17, 2017

March 20 at 2 p.m., come and experience the latest trend in relaxation: adult coloring books! Studies how coloring can have a calming effect on the adult mind and helps promote overall wellness. Coloring pages designed especially for adults as well as colored pencils will be provided.   This will be a recurring program. We will meet every third Monday of the month at 2 p.m.   Registration is required.  

Story time

On Tuesday,  March 21 at 10:45 a.m. join us for drop-in storytime. Get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required

Mahjong

On Tuesday, March 21, at 1 p.m. men and women are invited to the library for a get together in the community room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? They will teach you how. No problem. No registration is required.

 Insight meditation

On Tuesday, March 21, at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice. All are welcome.  No registration is required.  

Book discussion

On Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. join us for a discussion of  "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen.  When 23-year-old Jankowski learns that his parents have been killed in a car crash, leaving him penniless, he drops out of Cornell veterinary school and parlays his expertise with animals into a job with the circus, where he cares for a menagerie of exotic creatures.

Discovery Wednesday

On Wednesday, March 22 at 11 a.m. you never know what Miss Andrea will come up with in her discovery Wednesday, Art, science, stories, and more in this interactive program for ages 3 and up and their caregivers.  Registration is required.

Movie

On Wednesday, March 22 at 1 p.m. join us for a movie and free popcorn. We are showing "Fences" rated PG-13. Troy Maxson makes his living as a sanitation worker in 1950s Pittsburgh. Maxson once dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player, but was deemed too old when the major leagues began admitting black athletes. Bitter over his missed opportunity, Troy creates further tension in his family when he squashes his son's chance to meet a college football recruiter.

Kundalini Yoga

On Wednesday, March 22, at 5 p.m. join us for Kundalini Yoga. It involves repetitive movements with the breath, building strength, toning the nerves and clearing the adrenal glands.  Wear comfortable clothing and bring two blankets or a mat and blanket. A $5 donation is requested. Please use the back entrance when entering the building. No registration isrequired

Adult Crafternoon

On Thursday, March 23 at 11 a.m. come let your creativity shine as we try our hand at beaded jewelry with crafter Paige Bulmer from Creative Spirit Designs. Make a necklace, earrings, bracelet or all three.  Refreshments will be served.Registration is required.

  Knitting circle

On Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider, and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.
