Middleburgh Library Notes for Monday, March 10, 2014

On Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., come to the Crock Pot Cook-Off at the  Middleburgh Library. This is the library’s 5th Annual Crock Pot Cook - Off and we are looking for cook’s to enter their creations in the categories of chili, soups or other.  It is free to enter your crockpot in the competition but you must pre-register at the library or online.  All crockpots should be to the library by 10:30 a.m. and should arrive already hot. Please bring a serving utensil with you.  Prizes will be given in each category and will be drawn at 2 p.m.

If you just would like to come and eat, sampling of crockpot fare and voting begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults and children over 5.  Children under 5 are free.  Beverages and desserts will be available for an additional $1 each.

Board meets

On Monday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. the board of trustees will meet. The public is welcome.

Story time

On Tuesday, March 11, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the library for drop in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children 0 to age five and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong

On Tuesday, March 11, at 1 p.m. join us at the library for Mahjong Mania. This program is scheduled for every Tuesday. Men and women are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong.  No experience is necessary; just a willingness to learn and have fun.  No registration is necessary. 

Doodle Bugs

On Wednesday, March 12, at 11 a.m., the library’s Doodle Bugs Preschool Art meets.  This is art exploration for little ones and their caregivers and is appropriate for ages two and up.  Registration is required. 

Wednesday matinee

On Wednesday, March 12, at 1 p.m., the library will show The Book Thief rated PG-13.  While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. Under the stairs in her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents. No registration is required.  Remember the popcorn is free.

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, March 13, at 7 p.m., join the Knitting Circle’s ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.
