Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, March 1, 2018
For drop-in story time on March 6 at 10:45 a.m., get ready to move. This interactive story time is designed especially for children from infants up to age 5, and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required.
Mahjong Mania
Every Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., including on March 6, a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.
Insight Meditation
Join us on March 6 at 5:15 p.m. for Insight Meditation.
What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this.
Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience.
We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors. Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.
Stories with Miss Doreen
On March 7, at 11 a.m., join master storyteller, Doreen McCoy, for a fun story time. We’ll have stories, fingerplays, songs, and a craft for little ones 2 years old and up with their caregivers. No registration is required.
Wednesday Matinee
On March 7 at 1 p.m., watch “Darkest Hour” (PG-13).
Within days of becoming prime minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (played by Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.
We’ll serve popcorn for free.
Knitting Circle
On March 8, at 7 p.m., friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven't seen any yet!) will knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others- or just craft in the company of friends.
Drop in anytime! No registration is required.
Dinner & a Movie
On March 9, at 5:30 p.m., see “Wonder” (PG). Based on the New York Times bestseller, “wonder” tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman who was born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school.
The library will provide pizza and drinks and you bring a snack or dessert to share. Registration is required and space is limited.
