Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, February 20, 2015

On Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. join us at the Middleburgh Library for the Reel Talk Film Festival’s showing of The Anatomy of a Great Deception. In the film, businessman-turned filmmaker, David Hooper takes the audience down the rabbit hole to get a deeper look at the evidence.  He presents a compelling case for why, even after a decade, the story of 9/11 remains relevant.

You are welcome to join our new documentary film and discussion series, Reel Talk. Our next movie will be announced soon. Refreshments will be served, and registration is required.

Board meets

On Monday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m., the library’s board of trustees will meet. Our meetings are open to the public. Please join us. The snow date is Feb. 24.  Note this meeting was postponed from Feb. 9 due to the snowstorm.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 10:45 a.m., join us for drop in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children and their caregivers.  We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme.

Mahjong

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m., at the library, adults are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong.  No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun. No registration is required.

Book discussion

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m., join our book discussion of The Boy on the Bus by Deborah Schupak. Imagine that you’ve sent your son off to school, the boy you’ve always known, only to have him return as someone else. He’s different somehow, changed, and though you feel this to be true, you can find little physical evidence to prove your intuition. Is it in your mind or is something actually amiss?  No registration is required.  Books may be picked up at the information desk.

Preschool science

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m., preschoolers’ age’s three to five will learn about basic science through stories and hands on science activities in Start with Science:  Preschool Science Exploration. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and registration is required. This program is every fourth Wednesday.
