Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, February 5, 2020

The Middleburgh Library trustees will meet on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome.  

Drop-In Storytime

On Feb. 11 at 10:45 a.m. join this fun and interactive program  meant for children ages 0 through 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome! We read books, sing songs, play games, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required! 

Mahjong Mania

On Feb. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. join a  spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration required.  

Qi Dong 

On Feb.11 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. come to the library for Qi Gong a Chinese healing practice, incorporating breath and gentle movement to create a free flow of energy throughout the body. Wear loose clothing.

Insight Meditation

On Feb.11 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors.  give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome. 

Birthday Storytime

On Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. join us for Clifford's Birthday Party Storytime along with WMHT as we celebrate Clifford's birthday. We'll have pizza and birthday cake and Clifford himself will make an appearance!  Listen to a story, watch a short Clifford movie and make a craft. Then have your picture taken with Clifford the Big Red Dog!. For children and families of all ages. Registration is required.

Book Discussion

On Feb.13 from 1 to 3 p.m. join us to discuss  "Bel Canto" by Ann Pratchett. Bel Canto is a story about a group of people from various parts of the world who come to a developing country in South America and attend a function to hear Roxane Coss sing and encourage a businessman to invest in that country. Shortly after the performance is finished, the lights go out and the entire room is taken hostage by a group of kidnappers. As the weeks and months unfold, the lives of both the kidnapped and the terrorists change as they endure a stalemate between the terrorists and the local government.

Library closed

The library will be closed Feb. 17 for President's Day.
