Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, January 17, 2019

Jan. 21 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Middleburgh Library is closed to observe the holiday.

Mahjong Mania

On Jan. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the library’s Community Room, as they do every Tuesday, to play Mahjong.

Don’t know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.  

Insight Meditation

On Jan. 22, at 5:15 p.m., a meditation group will meet at the library.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors.

Give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Teen Depot

On Jan. 23 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. come hang out with us at the Teen Depot. We will have crafts, board games, video games, and snacks. Bring your own board games, crafts and Phones, Tablets, Swithes, laptops and any other devices you want. This program will be held every Wednesday for kids 12 and up.  

Registration is not required but appreciated!

Yoga

On Jan. 23, from 5 to 6 p.m., Yoga Classes with Deb - Restorative - Restorative Yoga:  Relaxation yoga, using props and gravity to do the work. Plus Qigong integrating finish By donation with the  donations going to the library. Please use back entrance as the library is closed that evening.

Tai Chi

On Jan. 25, from 10 to 11 a.m., Earl O’Bryan will teach Tai Chi.

Tai Chi and Qigong, from China, is the cultivation of human energy.  Gentle slow movements strengthen the body and calm the mind. These practices have been used for agility, balance, cognition, and longevity.  Suggested donation, $5. Please use back entrance as the library is closed on Fridays.

Dinner and a movie

On Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. join us for Dinner & A Movie. Enjoy a evening of food and friends as we watch the critically acclaimed film The Old Man and the Gun rated PG-13. The library will provide pizza and drinks and you bring a dessert or snack to share. Please use back entrance. Registration is required.

Seed Swap

On Jan. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. come to the library for Seed Swap  with Schoharie County Master Gardener Seed Exchange. Come and swap vegetable, herb, and flower seeds with other gardeners from through our region.
