Fatima Mercedes Maradiaga is not only a coffee producer, she is also a teacher in her community in Honduras. Electric City Roasters buys coffee from her farm, La Reina, meaning The Queen, which is what her husband calls her. Electric City Roasters will be at the Guilderland Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. to talk about coffee — its various regions and roasts — and to offer samples.

Intergalactic revelry is on the Guilderland Public Library schedule for Friday, Dec. 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. as Star Wars is celebrated.

It’s the holiday season. It’s also time to go full-on Jedi, Rebel, Imperial, and Mandalorian as we present a fantastical all-ages Star Wars celebration you won’t want to miss!

Brew Your Best

Don’t mess with my morning coffee! We sure do enjoy our java here in the good ol’ USA.  About 64 percent of Americans consume this favorite beverage daily, averaging three cups per day.

Ever wonder what makes an exceptional cup o’ joe? Find out Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. as Electric City Roasters convenes here for some enlightening coffee talk, covering various regions and roasts. Taste the difference, and take some samples too. Please register online, by phone or in person.

Snowman sock creature

On Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m., tweens, teens and adults are invited to create an adorable sock snowman adorned with cute buttons, a winter hat and scarf.

It’s sew easy no sewing involved! This a great activity for parents and their tweens and teens to participate in together. Please register online, by phone or in person.

Cut The Cord

Tempted to cut ties with your cable company, but not sure how to begin? Perhaps you have questions about cable TV versus streaming, and how to continue to watch your favorite shows.

It can be daunting keeping track of all the devices and services available. Join us Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. for “Cut the Cord: Cut Ties With Your Cable Company,” an overview of the try-before-you-buy devices in our collection that you can borrow and test out at home. Find out if cutting ties with your cable company is right for you.

GPL Adventures

On Thursday, Dec. 12, at 3:30 p.m., it’s time for a thrilling adventure with the scientists from Mad Science! We’ll create our own special effects (just like in the movies) and discover how science and technology make them possible.

This program is for students in grades 3 to 5. Please register online, by phone, or in person.

“Bear Snores On”

On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m., WMHT’s Barbara Lukas returns to present “Bear Snores On” by Karma Wilson.

We’ll meet Bear, who lives in the forest with his friends. Bear’s friends try to wake him up from his long winter sleep, but he just snores on. When Bear hears something clattering in the trees up above and discovers who it is, he makes a new friend.

Following the story, we’ll make a craft. This program is ideal for kids in pre-kindergarten through second grade. Please register online, by phone or in person, and join the fun!
