Guilderland Library Notes for Friday, August 15, 2014
By now all the young Summer Reading Club members have turned in their reading records, and are ready for “Ready to Raffle” Day on Friday, Aug. 15. All club members need to know what’s happening that day at the Guilderland Public Library.
First of all, you’ll get your very own, personalized reading certificate, showing that you’ve completed all the requirements of club membership. Then there’s the SRC drawing: Everyone who gets their certificate also gets a drawing ticket that could win you a LEGO Kit, a Monster Science Kit, a $25 Juicy Burger gift card, Karate lessons, a Karate party, a whopping great Supersoaker, four pairs of Regal Cinemas tickets, or any of more than two dozen other prizes. Just drop your drawing ticket into the bag by your prize and cross your fingers.
Not only that, but as a member, you’re automatically entered in the grand prize drawing in which teen readers could win a set of beats headphones, school-age readers could get a Kindle Fire, and wee readers could be awarded a Leap Frog Learning Tablet.
Winners of the grand prizes and the drawing prizes will be contacted by phone on Friday, Aug. 22. We wish you luck.

Reserve DVDs online
In response to your many comments and requests, DVDs are now requestable online via GPL’s website at www.guilpl.org.
To search for the title you want, use the homepage’s “Search the Catalog” feature, enter the title in the “What are you looking for?” window, and then click on the “DVDs” link in the Format bar. You’ll instantly get a list of what’s available.

kindergarten-ready?
Starting kindergarten is a special and exciting time for parents and children, and it can be challenging for the children. Join us for a fun-filled program where soon-to-be kindergarteners get an introduction into what to expect at kindergarten find the joy to celebrate this important milestone.
This program is for children starting kindergarten in September 2014 and a parent or caregiver. Register for the session of your choice: Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.; or Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. Call 456-2400, ext. 4, or register at http://bit.ly/kindergarten-camp.
