Golf tourney
Last call! All skill levels are invited for a casual day of fun as Guilderland Library Foundation hosts a golf tournament at Western Turnpike Golf Course on Friday, Aug. 13. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by shotgun start at 9 a.m., lunch, and 19th hole celebration at 2 p.m. The cost is $125 per golfer, or $25 to attend the 19th hole afternoon celebration only. Jungle Week
Our all-ages Tails & Tales Summer Reading Program fun continues! Check our Events calendar frequently at guilderlandlibrary.org and register up to two weeks in advance, or call us at 518-456-2400 ext. 3. Registration is required for all SRP programs (unless otherwise noted) and in-person library programs are limited to Guilderland residents.

Sign up for a fun socially-distanced jungle-themed family story time at Tawasentha Park on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 6:30 p.m.! Please bring a lawn chair and/or blanket and plan to sit with your family members. GPL follows Albany County guidelines and reserves the right to cancel or adapt the program as needed for weather or safety concerns.

Escape Room
Think you have what it takes to navigate through the clues and crack the code to make your great escape? Let's find out! Grades 6-8 are invited to sign up for the Thursday, Aug. 5 session at 2 p.m., while grades 9-12 can register for the 3:30 p.m. session.
Tomatoes 101
What to do with all those juicy, ripe tomatoes? Let’s find out on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. with Karen Roberts Mort from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County. We’ll learn how to safely hot pack crushed tomatoes and make salsa, plus cover the basics of using a boiling water canner. This program will be held in-person at the Tawasentha Park small pavilion. Space is limited; registration and masks required.
Becoming
a foster parent
New date! Ever thought about adopting or fostering a child? Join us for a virtual information session on Thursday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m., presented by Albany-based Northern Rivers Family of Services, to learn how you can make a difference in a child’s life. Nationally-accredited Northern Rivers provides comprehensive training and support throughout the entire experience. Please register to receive the virtual meeting link.
New café
Our new café is currently being constructed, and we’re looking for a tenant to operate it. Please see https://bit.ly/GPLCafeRFPs for more information. The deadline for requests for proposals is Wednesday, Aug. 11 at noon.
Construction update
We’re on budget and 11 months ahead of schedule with our extensive building project. Completion is expected around Labor Day. More details, may be found at: https://bit.ly/GPLbuildingproject. Due to limited interior space from construction plus social distancing constraints, GPL is not currently open to public browsing.
