All-Ages

Summer Reading

Summer is here!  We’re ready to welcome the sunny fun-filled days ahead…hope you are too!  Join the celebration on Tuesday, June 29 for our “Tails and Tales” Summer Reading Program (SRP) kickoff at Farnsworth Middle School for kids from infancy through Grade 12.

Register your entire family on the Events tab of our website for a session at 3, 4, 5 or 6 p.m., with half-hour bubble dance parties featured at 3:15, 4:15 and 5:15. Summer reading provides an incentive for preschoolers through high schoolers to enjoy books, complete activities, attend programs, earn points and win prizes.

Teens can serve as technology volunteers and participate in Read It Forward. New this year:  find you friends on Beanstack and challenge them to a reading competition!  More details may be found at:  https://guilderlandlibrary.org/srp and on our GPL Kids and Families Facebook page.

Make sure to check our Events calendar at guilderlandlibrary.org frequently and register.  Sign up for specific activities is available two weeks in advance, and each week features a different theme.  SRP officially kicks off with Farm Week starting Tuesday, July 6, featuring an activity kit for grades 3-5 with all the materials needed to create your very own farm animal play set, and a family / all ages farm tour at Indian Ladder Farms Thursday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m.  Subscribe to our YouTube channel for a variety of engaging storytimes, too!

Adults: You’re invited to participate in summer reading too!  The grand prize for adults is a basket of goodies and a $50 gift card to the Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza. Please see:  https://guilderlandlibrary.org/adultsrp for more information.
