Bethlehem Library Notes for Wednesday, August 6, 2014
On Thursday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m., join us at the Bethlehem Public Library for Wii games and board games, from Super Smash Bros. to Pick-Up-Sticks. For kids in grades six through 12.
Cloud science
On Friday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m., the library will offer stories and activity stations that will reveal how clouds make rain. Families are welcome.
Gak! What is that?
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2:30 p.m. come to the library and make crazy putty with common laundry ingredients. For kids in grade one and up with a caregiver.
Teen sewcial
On Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m., use the library’s sewing machines to work on a project, or bring a hand-sewing project to work on. Some supplies are provided. Please bring your own fabric. For kids in grades six through 12.
Homebrew 101
A member of the Albany Brew Crafters homebrew club will present Homebrew 101 on Wednesday Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Bethlehem Public Library. Topics include equipment, ingredients, recipe sources, extract versus grain brewing, and large-batch versus small-batch brewing. No beer will be made or sampled during this program.
Books sought
The library is partnering with Grassroot Givers, a local nonprofit, to collect books for donation to local organizations and individuals in need. Collection day is Saturday Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1p.m., at the library garage. Donations must fit the following criteria: current adult paperback fiction and nonfiction; current adult hardcover fiction and nonfiction; current children’s board books; current children’s hardcover and softcover picture books; current elementary and middle school chapter books; current adult biography, self-help, cookbooks, and history books.
Grassroots Givers will not accept books older than 10 years; torn or moldy books; encyclopedias; videos, tapes, or CDs; magazines; computer books older than three years; test prep books older than the current year; textbooks of any kind, including law and medical books.
Donations that do not meet these criteria, and donations brought before 10 a.m. or after 1p.m., will not be accepted.
