KNOX — The Knox Nursery School has been in full swing since Sept. 11. We have nine 2-year-olds who meet Tuesday and Friday from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Our eighteen 3-year-olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The morning class runs from 9 to 11:15 a.m. and the afternoon class is from noon to 2:15 p.m.

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland Library is hosting a “no-sew blanket fun-raiser,” led by long-time Guilderland resident Katy Noakes, for making fleece blankets to benefit homeless people in Albany as well as victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The event will be held Monday, Nov. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Excelsior Scholarship application for students to attend state schools tuition-free for the spring semester opened Oct. 30 and will run until Dec. 4.

GUILDERLAND — Happy Cat Rescue Inc., based in Guilderland Center, is hoping people will adopt cats for Christmas.

Dogs accompanied 4-H members from Albany and Rensselaer counties on Saturday, Oct. 21, for an afternoon of fun Howl-O-Ween activities at the Albany Obedience Club including a costume contest, a spooky obstacle course to run, tricks to show off, and lots of good food to eat — for both the human and canine guests.
