VOORHEESVILLE — Bryson Gibson, a member of Troop 84, has completed his Eagle Scout project — a mini-lending library in Voorheesville’s Nichols Park — and is off to parts unknown.

Taylor M. Della Rocco of Berne is among 31 newly graduated Environmental Conservation Officers.

The Basic School from which Della Rocco graduated was held at the Office of Public Protection's Training Academy in Pulaski, Oswego County, which runs along the Salmon River.

The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation is holding public meetings in each region this fall to provide an overview of New York’s approach to trout-stream management.

Anglers can state their preferences and expectation for stream management at the meetings.

United States Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congressman Paul Tonko announced on Aug. 30 that a combined $311,746 has been awarded to the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs through the Department of Homeland Security.

The award will support two NYSAFC projects:

Patriot Guard Riders, led by Don Miller, gathered in New Scotland beneath the Helderbergs on Sunday afternoon to honor Art Hamilton, a World War II Navy veteran who served during the D-Day invasion at Normandy.
