GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce and town of Guilderland have announced this year’s Chamber Business Awards and Town Beautification Award winners.

Sam Fein, Albany County legislator and congregant at B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation, will discuss how his Jewish values led him on the path to public service in a talk at the synagogue on Friday, Sept. 9, immediately following the congregation’s Shabbat service.

The Schoharie Valley Singers are beginning rehearsals for the group’s 44th concert season entitled, “Music in the Air.”
Rehearsals start on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Latter Day Saints Church at 141 Church St. in Central Bridge. There will be a potluck beginning at 6 p.m.

GUILDERLAND — Community Caregivers is looking for volunteers.

Volunteers at the not-for-profit, Guilderland-based organization provide older neighbors with friendly calls, visits, transportation to medical appointments, and grocery shopping.

WRIGHT — Eight historic barns in the town of Wright will be open on Saturday, Aug. 20, for those participating in a self-guided driving tour sponsored by the Gallupville House Association.

In addition to the garden, the tours include the metamorphosis room and the butterfly catching adventure. A Butterfly Release Celebration will be held on Friday, Aug. 13, as the butterflies are set free.
