Guardsmen promoted

These local members of the New York Army National Guard have been promoted:

— Justin Wemple from Altamont, and serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-69th Infantry is promoted to the rank of Sergeant First Class; and

— Brian Trudeau from Guilderland, and serving with the Joint Force Headquarters is promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer3.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

  • Applications open for grants to upgrade municipal parks

    ALBANY COUNTY — Albany County is now accepting applications for grants to enhance, improve, or develop city, town, and village-owned parks, playgrounds, or recreational facilities.

    Grants are capped at $15,000 each from the $150,000 available. The deadline to apply is June 30.
