Crossgates goes pink

GUILDERLAND — The Crosssgates Mall “Paint the Mall Pink” campaign supports breast cancer awareness in the mall and on its social media sites for the month of October.

To kick off the event, Crossgates painted the barricade, lower level pink and will fill it with an eight foot pink ribbon, signs for an upcoming fashion show, one-dollar donation pin-ups, and information on breast cancer support and awareness.

Participating stores will also have breast cancer pink ribbons placed in their storefronts. Cross gates Mall will be backing the local breast cancer awareness and support group called To Life! This not-for-profit group serves 10 local counties by offering support groups, cancer information, counseling on treatment options, and a private setting for women to shop for post-mastectomy garments, breast forms, accessories, and wigs.

The one-dollar breast cancer awareness pin-ups will be sold at the Crossgates Mall Customer Service Desk, located on the lower level by Macy’s. All proceeds will go to To Life! Also, for every “like” on Facebook, Crossgates Mall will donate a dollar to To Life!

On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the lower level Apple Court, an “I’m a Survivor” fashion Show will feature breast cancer survivors, walking down the runway in Old Navy and Walking Company items.
