Four out of 124 child seats properly installed

GUILDERLAND — On Saturday at Crossgates Mall, certified technicians checked 124 car seats to see if they were safely installed.

This was the most seats ever inspected at events like this run by Albany County, according to a release from the county executive’s office.

Of the 124 seats that were inspected, only four were installed correctly and 17 car seats that were deemed unsafe were replaced.

“These numbers show how important it is to read the instructions while putting in our children’s seats and then check with the professionals to make sure it’s done correctly,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy in the release.

Technicians from Albany and other neighboring counties helped with inspections and told parents and caregivers how to continue keeping their children’s riding experience safe.
