NEW SCOTLAND — The challenges of winter life on a Dutch farmstead in the 1600s will be explored in a program called “Chilly Winter’s Eve.”

The New Scotland Historical Association will host a program by Shelby Mattice on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center, just off of Route 85 in New Salem.

NEW SCOTLAND — The life and times of Solomon Northup will be re-enacted by Clifford Oliver Mealy at the New Scotland Historical Association program on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m.  The program is held at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center, just off of Route 85 in New Salem. 

NEW SCOTLAND — “Old Silver Leg,” about Pieter Stuyvesant in the New World, is a musical program to be presented on June 17 by “Ankie, Nanne & Tseard,” a group of three folksingers from Friesland in the Netherlands.

NEW SCOTLAND — Folklorist Paul Mercer will use music and words to tell the little known tale of the War of 1812 prisoners of war in England’s notorious Dartmoor Prison.

NEW SCOTLAND — Find out why the town of New Scotland is “hopping.”

“Hops in New York State: A Brief History of the New York State Hop Industry and Where We Stand Today” will be the program at the New Scotland Historical Association on Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem. 

NEW SCOTLAND — The New Scotland Historical Association will be presenting the program "Five Rivers, the History of a Special Place" on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center off of Route 85, in New Salem. 

NEW SCOTLAND — The New Scotland Historical Association has republished the book, Voorheesville, New York: A Sketch of the Beginning of a Nineteenth-Century Railroad Town, written by the village of Voorheesville historian, Dennis Sullivan.   

NEW SCOTLAND — On Sunday, Nov. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., the New Scotland Historical Association will be hosting the program, “Coping with Life’s Necessaries: The Down and Dirty Story of Life Without Plumbing,” at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem.

NEW SCOTLAND — The New Scotland Historical Association is pleased to have Barbara Baciewicz and Sharon Kielty, long-time volunteer interpreters at Historic Cherry Hill, come to our program on Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem, to reenact the crime of the Cherry Hill Murder of 1827.
