On Tuesday, Dec. 28, the Guilderland Dutchmen boys basketball team participated in the first day of the Colonie Pep Sand Holiday Classic as they took on Mekeel Christian Academy at Colonie High School.

On Thursday, Dec. 23, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys basketball team played a non-league game against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School. The Bulldogs’ fast-pace defense made the Indians’ turn the ball over as the Bulldogs won 68 to 45.

On Tuesday, Dec. 21, the Guilderland gymnastics team went up the Northway to face powerhouse Saratoga. The Dutch held their own with only six gymnasts and fell 163.650 to 141.900.

On Friday, Dec. 17, the Guilderland Girls basketball team visited Schenectady for an early matinee game due to the junior varsity game being cancelled amid COVID concerns. The Dutch led from the opening tip to the final whistle with a 58-to-34 win.

On Thursday, Dec. 16, the Voorheesville Blackbirds bowling team hosted Catholic Central at Town n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. The pins weren’t nice to the Birds as they fell to the Crusaders 29 to 3 (2692 to 2198 in total pins).

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Guilderland-Mohonasen-Scotia/Glenville-Schalmont-Voorheesville Storm took on Niskayuna-Amsterdam-Schenectady-Albany Mohawks at Union College for a Stick it to Cancer event. From the opening face off the Storm led till the final buzzer and won 4 to 0.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Voorheesville Girls traveled to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to face the Indians in the schools’ Hall of Fame game. Birds hung tough in the first half but the Indians’ defense stiffened and the Birds fell 50 to 37.

On Thursday, Dec. 9, the Voorheesville Boys volleyball team traveled to Cobleskill-Richmondville to face the Bulldogs. The Blackbirds dropped the first set and came back to take the next three and defeated Cobleskill-Richmondville 3 sets to 1; 17-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-21.

The Guilderville boys swim team held the first meet of its season Dec. 7. The pool’s temperature forced them to travel to Bethlehem High School. Guilderville fell 108 to 75.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, the Guilderland Dutchmen wrestling team traveled to Columbia High School in East Greenbush for the Columbia Blue Devil Round Robin tournament. The 12 Dutch wrestlers wrestled well with six of them finishing in the top three.

The Voorheesville boys basketball team took to the court in their home opener and season opener against the LaSalle Cadets Dec. 3. LaSalle’s defense caused the Blackbirds to make mistakes and miss shots for a 69-to-43 loss.

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, the Guilderland Dutchmen bowling team started off on the right foot by beating Bethlehem at Town n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. Guilderland won 29 and a half to 2 and a half, with 3471 to 2765 in pins.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo bowling team had its first in-person match against Canajoharie on Nov. 29. Last year, all bowling teams had virtual matches under pandemic restrictions. BKW boys lost, 4 to 0 (2731-2011), and the girls fell, 3 to 1 (1948-1915).
