Porter E. Bidleman

ALTAMONT — Porter E. Bidleman died “on the top shelf,” on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 at his village home with his loving daughters by his side. He was 94.

ALTAMONT — Dr. Alan J. Fogel — a doctor with a caretaker’s soul whose greatest joy was his family — died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020. He was 66.

Victor L. Blanchet

BERNE — Victor L. Blanchet was a rugged individualist.

“He was well read. He liked to philosophize. He was a deep thinker,” said his nephew, Robert Blanchet. “He never had a bad word to say about anything … The word that describes him best is ‘unique.’”

Marion Louise Lawton

ALTAMONT — Marion Louise Lawton, formerly of Altamont, had a secretarial career that lasted nearly half of a century and was seen by her family as a treasure.

She died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at the Warren Center in Queensbury, New York, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.

Anita Caroline Marrone

WESTERLO — Anita Caroline Marrone of Westerlo — an ebullient woman who put her boundless energies into the care of her family and town — died peacefully in the presence of loved ones on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020. She was 77.

Randall S. Engel died unexpectedly while enjoying a round of golf on Friday, Nov. 6, in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was 67.

James E. Keough Sr.

KNOX — James Keough of Knox — the state’s first K-9 Trooper — died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Nov. 12. He was 79.

He was the son of the late John and Isabel Keough and husband of the late Blanche (née Macejka) Keough. He grew up in Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1959.

RENSSELAERVILLE — “Aunt Kate,” as Katherine S. Baitsholts was known around the hamlet of Rensselaerville, died at St. Peter’s Hospice in the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, after having suffered a massive brain hemorrhage the preceding Thursday afternoon. She was 99 years old.

EAST BERNE — Colleen M. Houlihan of East Berne — a woman with quick-witted humor and kind and caring ways — died on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, after a courageous 16-year battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Donna Arlene Lee

WESTERLO — Donna Arlene (née Slingerland) Lee had a personality larger than life, her family said.

“Donna lived life to the fullest. Strong-willed, determined, and often outspoken,” her family described her in a tribute.

She died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020. She was 81.
