Norma Gay Walley

LATHAM — Norma Gay (née Vadney) Walley, formerly the Matriarch of Feura Bush, died of natural causes on Sunday, July 26, 2020 with her children at her side.

The oldest of four siblings, she was born on a cold winter’s day in early December of 1923 at the family homestead in Feura Bush to Mildred and Dewey Vadney.

Mace Everett Porter

BERNE — Mace Everett Porter of Berne, a proud veteran and family man, died peacefully at home on July 28, 2020. He was 91.

Vera R. Brooks

GUILDERLAND — “A star went out for a special person this day, the 27th of July, 2020. It is with a sad and heavy heart to announce the passing of Vera ‘Gram’ Brooks,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She had a happy, healthy life all the way up to the amazing age of 106.”

Daniel Michael Stewart, age 34, died instantly in a vehicular traffic accident on Sunday,  July 12, 2020, in Forest Grove, Oregon caused by a driver failing to yield the right-of-way.

Barbara A. Newell

GUILDERLAND CENTER — Barbara A. Newell, a school-bus driver who loved children, died peacefully at Albany Medical Center on Monday, July 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving sons. She was 74.

She was born Feb. 1, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John and Elizabeth Newell.

James Michael Mohan, an engineer and devoted family man, was “known for his wisdom, integrity, and cool under pressure,” his family wrote in a tribute.

“He was our rock and we will miss him every day,” his family wrote.

He died unexpectedly of heart-related issues on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. He was 80.

ALTAMONT — Al VanAuken was a man who was devoted to his wife, and who loved his children and grandchildren. 

He died on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. He was 71.

Harry Allen VanAuken was born to Harry and Olive VanAuken on May 10, 1949, in Guilderland.

Lorraine C. (Starks) Carroll

ALBANY — “A beautiful, caring soul was able to finally walk home after dying peacefully of natural causes, following a decade-long struggle with a spinal cord disability,” wrote the family of Lorraine Carroll in a tribute.

Constance M. Rue

ALTAMONT — Constance M. Rue was a devoted mother and grandmother who started a new chapter in life a decade ago, volunteering for a variety of village initiatives.

She died unexpectedly at her Altamont home on Sunday, July 5, 2020. She was 61.

Karen A Boyea

SLINGERLANDS — Karen Ann Wengert Boyea, of Slingerlands, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2020, as did her husband of 47 years, Basil A. Boyea, “whom she loved, cherished, and guided through the last years of their lives,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Edna Anne Bunzey

BERNE — Edna Anne Bunzey, a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who traveled to most of the 50 states, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 95.

Eileen R. Kronsberg

Eileen R. Kronsberg — “the best mother and Mimi anyone could have,” her family said — died on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at the age of 82.

Earl A. MacIntosh

ALTAMONT — Earl A. MacIntosh oversaw the multi-million-dollar redevelopment of Albany Medical Center Hospital and applied the same kind of perfectionism to growing Christmas trees to sell.

He died on Monday, June 29, 2020, at his Altamont home surrounded by his family.
