Quality journalism balances power by accurately researching and reporting. But democracy requires not only quality journalism but citizens who are willing to invest the effort to distinguish between true reports and false ones.

Government is not a business. The central mission of government is to provide services for its citizens. The central mission of a business is to turn a profit.

Citizens in a democracy need to do their part — each one of us — to make a government of the people, by the people, and for the people viable.
