ALTAMONT — Margaret Josephine Button — described by her family as “patient guide to many life problems” — died on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Delmar,  surrounded by people she loved. She was 72.

NEW SCOTLAND — Shirley Elizabeth Albright was a big-hearted woman. She kept an immaculate house at the foot of the Helderbergs into which she welcomed not just neighborhood kids and friends of her children but troubled teens her husband brought home from the city.

ALBANY — Lois P. Van Buren, formerly of Knox, died on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at the Teresian House. “She was called home to be with the Lord after a lifelong battle with health issues,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 81.

RENSSELAEERVILLE — Howard A. Bolster could grow, make, or fix just about anything. Indeed, Mr. Bolster was renowned in the Hilltowns for his mechanical ingenuity.

His daughter, Barbara, vividly recalls the snowblower he made from scratch when she was a child. He fabricated this equipment without any plans whatsoever.

SCHROON LAKE — Raymond W. Butler, formerly of Altamont, died unexpectedly at his Schroon Lake home on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017. He was 62.

He was born in Albany on Sept. 21, 1954. Mr. Butler was raised by his foster parents, George and Janice Van Etten of Knox.

He worked as a supervisor for Ultapet, retiring in 2012.

WARNERVILLE — Joseph F. Parsons Jr. loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He died on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, after battling cancer. He was 61.

LATHAM — Arlene A. VanSlyke was a woman who loved to laugh and joke, never losing her childlike wonder. She died on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017. She was 75.

“She was like a little girl in a big body,” said her daughter, Patricia Stempel.

Beth D. (née Taber) Conway

Beth D. Taber Conway of Valatie died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of Neil and Dorothy Hines Taber. She was the wife of the late Brian J. Conway.

GUILDERLAND — Susan Diane Stealey, who loved travel, the outdoors, animals, and family, died peacefully at her Guilderland home on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and pets, her family wrote in a tribute. She was 51.

DELANSON — Henry “Clay” Warner, a lover of the outdoors and music, died on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017. He was 28.

Mr. Warner was born on April 20, 1989, in Niskayuna, to Albert and Echo (née Bunzey) Warner. He attended Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School.

Clifford William Bouton

Clifford William Bouton, who worked for a tree company and adored his family, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 in his  Saugerties, New York home after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Ervin and Gertrude Merwin Bouton.

Lois Anne Fischle

Lois Anne Fischle, a devoted child-care provider, died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Sunlit Gardens in Alta Loma, California. She was 91.

WESTERLO —  Deborah Ann Rogers-Sarchioto — a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother who loved to sing and dance to gospel music — died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, in a peaceful state of sleep. She was 58.

Born in Albany,  in 1959, she was the loving daughter of Joseph and Dhyan Rogers of Westerlo.

Caroline J. Charon

GUILDERLAND — Caroline J. Charon, who worked hard and loved long, died on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. She was 65.
