Clyde C. Furman

CLARKSVILLE — Clyde C. Furman, a man who loved to help others, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. He was 85.

“He was a very caring person,” said his daughter, Brenda Welter. “He really liked to help people out.”

WARNERS LAKE — A memorial service for Deborah Morey will be held on July 29 at noon at the Helderberg Lutheran Church at 1732 Helderberg Trail.

Her husband, Christopher Morey, described her as the guardian of her family. She died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

GUILDERLAND — Joseph Hamman of Guilderland, is described by his family as “a caring, gentle, and kind person who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone.”

Born in Niskayuna on Nov. 12, 1949, he died from kidney disease at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s in Albany on Friday, July 21, 2017. He was 67.

KNOX — Charles Michael Scott, an accomplished athlete, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, following a brief illness. He was 24.

“Family and friends will always remember Charles for his warm smile and charm,” his family wrote in a tribute.

GUILDERLAND — Doris Jean (née Scharlott) Brown was an adventurous self-made woman, recalled her daughter, Carolyn Boldiston. She died on Thursday,  June 29, 2017, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, after struggling with advanced lung disease and related complications. She was 82.

SCHOHARIE — Stephen A. Shako, a Navy veteran who loved farming, died Monday, June 19, 2017. He was 72.

Mr. Shako was born in Troy on July 31, 1944, to Rose (née Flanagan) and George K. Shako.

Mr. Shako served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1964, during the Cuban Blockade, before being honorably discharged.

WARNERS LAKE — Deborah Morey, whom her husband describes as a guardian of her family and beloved by everyone who met her, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. She was 64.

ALTAMONT — “Catherine S. Anderson began her next great adventure on July 10th at 4:44 p.m.,” her family wrote in a tribute. “May her beautiful soul begin its peaceful journey reunited with her late husband, Richard H. Anderson.

Geoffrey T. Martin died peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was 69.

He was the son of the late Charles and Dorothea Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra M. Martin; his daughter, Jonaca Martin; and by two sisters; Megan and Tamsen.

A funeral services will be private.

EAST BERNE — Robert A. Warner, a quiet man with a love for his friends and family, died on Friday, June 30, 2017. He was 86.

KNOX — A lifelong forester and family man, Frederick W. Oettinger was also active in helping the Knox community as a volunteer firefighter and president of the historical society.

He died peacefully at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland on Friday, June 30, 2017.

ALTAMONT — June Brown McNiven — who served as a nurse in World War II and was devoted to her family — died on Sunday, June 23, 2017, in Ogunquit, Maine, one day shy of her 100th birthday.

GUILDERLAND — Sandee Piculell was known for her loving care and generosity with her family and friends, and with the children she helped at Guilderland’s Farnsworth Middle School.

Ms. Piculell died on Friday, July 7, 2017, surrounded by people who loved her. She was 65.
