Sue W. Lainhart

ALTAMONT — Sue W. Lainhart (née Walsh), a science teacher who preserved the legacy of the Lainhart homestead, died there on Saturday, June 24. She was 81 years old.

EAST BERNE — Thomas I. Chase — described by his family as “a true country boy who never wished to stray far from his home in the Helderberg Mountains” — died peacefully at his East Berne home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, after a long illness. He was 56.

KNOX — Ronald Hempstead, who made his way through life armed with a sense of humor and a willingness to help others, died on Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was 68. He enjoyed being around people and poking fun.

ALTAMONT — Timothy Gaige, a devoted father and loyal friend, died on Sunday, June 11, 2017. He was 37.

A memorial service for Linda Kellam Hunter, beloved wife of Theodore Hunter of Slingerlands and mother of Howard Cole of New Hampshire, will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Town of Westerlo Town Park under the pavilion. Mrs. Hunter died on March 12, 2017 at the age of 70.

ALTAMONT — Retired Postmaster Robert H. Tetrault, formerly of Altamont, New York died on June 4, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 81.

Mr. Tetrault was born in Albany on September 11, 1935, and raised in Albany and Colonie.

GUILDERLAND — Thomas T. Van Wagenen Jr., a lifelong resident of Guilderland, was remembered by his family this week as a man with a strong sense of fairness and a good sense of humor.

GUILDERLAND — Mario Caputo Suarez was “without guile, self-sufficient, and very content,” his longtime family friend Martin Kehoe said.

He died at his Guilderland residence on March 11, 2017. He was 63.

BERNE — Todd Orson Dibble Sr. died Friday, May 26, 2017. He was 48.

Walter A. LeClair, whose love of birds and the outdoors showed in his wood carvings, died Monday, May 22, 2017.

Mr. LeClair, 87, lived near Altamont with his wife, Mary. They were married for nearly 65 years.

NEW SCOTLAND — John D. Wright, a firefighter and farmer committed to community and family, died on Friday, May 23, 2o17. He was 68.

ALTAMONT — New York State Trooper Timothy W. Hard was “as honest as the day is long, a stand-up guy,” said his friend since childhood, Theresa Balfe-Gallager.
