NEW SCOTLAND — C.W. ‘Skip’ Lower Jr. was a bon vivant who loved Lake George where he owned several popular businesses over the years.

“He was quiet in some ways and sarcastic in others,” said his sister, Andrea Gleason. “He was a jokester. He loved to laugh and he liked to have a good time.”

WESTERLO — Gary William Maslowsky “entered his eternal home on Friday, March 24, 2017, with his loving wife and daughters by his side,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was 70.

KNOX — Delia “Barney” Palombo was a well-known presence at the Township Tavern in Knox, and later made her place in Knox’s town government. She was also a loving and caring person to her friends, family, community, and animals. She died on Monday, March 27, 2017. She was 94.

GUILDERLAND — His “great big smile” is the thing Brian Jackson says he will miss most about his father, Jeffry Jackson, who died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, surrounded by family and friends, after a years-long battle with cancer. Jeffry Jackson was 64.

BIVINS, TEXAS — Jerry A. Miles Sr., who lived in Clarksville and East Berne for over half of a century, died on Sunday, March 12, 2017, after a long, two-year battle with Mesothelioma. He was 74.

KNOX —  A religious woman who worked for the post office and, after retiring, helped her elderly friends, Regina Kochem Settle died peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017, with her family by her side. She was 91.

ALTAMONT — A resilient woman whose life spanned two continents and embraced varied careers, Sonja Otterness was known for her courage and warmth.

She died on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was 82.

SLINGERLANDS — Linda Hunter knew how to celebrate. She always remembered her many relatives on special occasions and she loved decorating her home for holidays.

She died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 12, 2017. She was 70.

ALTAMONT — John W. Foley, who had a lifelong quest for speed, died on Friday, March 17, 2017, with his family by his side. “He was a legend and icon of Altamont for 60 years, fixing cars making them run better or faster,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was 79.

WESTERLO — Passionate about her family and the community where she made her home, Peggy L. Bishop died on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. She was 86.

“You couldn’t find a better person,” said her son, Ross Bishop.

EAST BERNE —  Phyllis Jean Purcell of East Berne, a nurse who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, died in peace at Albany Medical Center on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. She was 90.

EAST BERNE — A kind and loving man, Richard “Rick” Hagadone helped others see the world through his forgiving eyes. After battling Huntington’s disease, he died on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was 64.

ALTAMONT — Nellie “Mae” Schultz, a deeply religious woman known for her kindness, died on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. She was 102.

“Mae was a kind and gentle soul who has winged her way back to her heavenly father,” her friends wrote in a tribute.

ALBANY — After traversing the many peaks and valleys of New York State, an area man has wandered back home to his final resting place.

ALTAMONT —  Dr. George K. Tregaskis, a lifelong educator who was honored for his community service, died on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a brief illness. He was 82.
