The Duanesburg Historical Society will sponsor a “Back Roads of Duanesburg” self-guided drive-about tour on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour will highlight some of the hidden historical treasures within the town in commemoration of its 250th anniversary. 

Donations are being accepted for the Bethlehem Grange 137 Annual Giant Rummage Sale, which will run on the second and third weekends of September.

The first Sunday following the Hurricane Irene, an ecumenical service was held on the lawn of Lasell Hall, known as D.A.R. Hall because the 18th-Century Federal building has been owned by the Schoharie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1913.

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve is now accepting submissions for the second Pine Bush Perspectives juried photo exhibit.

Over 100 dealers are expected for the Antiques in Schoharie 39th annual fall show, which will be held at the Schoharie Valley railroad complex on Depot Land in the village on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The movie, “Big,” will be screened on Saturday, Aug. 15, for free at John Boyd Thacher State park and three other state parks.  

The 1988 movie, with scenes filmed both in New York City and upstate New York, will be shown at 8 p.m. at Thacher.

GUILDERLAND — Vendor and crafters are wanted for the second annual fair to be held by the Westmere Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the firehouse at 1741 Western Avenue.

GUILDERLAND — Camp Invention, supported by the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the National Inventors Hall of Fame, is coming to Farnsworth Middle School the week of Aug. 10. The weeklong day camp is for students entering first through sixth grades.

SCHOHARIE — The Depot Lane Singers, a 70-voice community chorus based in Schoharie, is looking for singers to join them for winter concerts as it begins its 37th season. Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, Sept.

KNOX — The town of Knox and the Knox Historical Society will dedicate the new Plank Road Toll Gate 3 historic marker on Sunday, Aug. 9.  The event will begin at 2 p.m. in the Knox Town Hall on Route 156 with a brief review of all 14 historic markers in the town, and related historic documentation.

GUILDERLAND — New York National Guard troops will be giving free disaster preparedness classes at Crossgates Mall on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

WESTERLO — The quaint white carriage house at the corner of routes 401 and 405 in southern Albany County has been transformed into “A New Place for Art.”
