The Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District held its 30th annual tree and shrub sale this spring. Over 225 local residents planted 8,150 seedlings.  In the last decade, residents have planted over 137,300 trees in the last 10 years alone, through this program.  These trees and shrubs are sold bare root and vary in size.

The State University of New York College at Oneonta recently recognized more than 200 alumni and alumnae, including these local residents:

— Victoria Graffeo, of Voorheesville, a 1974 graduate of SUNY Oneonta, a former associate judge for the New York State Court of Appeals and now a partner for Harris Beach PLLC;

RENSSELAERVILLE — The Preservation League of New York State has given the Daniel Conkling House in Rensselaerville an award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.

The league's statewide awards program honors notable achievements in retaining, promoting, and reusing New York State's irreplaceable architectural heritage.

Meals on Wheels is looking for a volunteer to help deliver meals to homebound residents in Guilderland on Friday mornings, from approximately 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Substitute drivers are also needed. Substitutes volunteer once in a while for about an hour and half to deliver meals to Guilderland residents.

Thoracic surgeon Walter Scott, M.D., appointed associate professor of surgery at Albany Medical College, and cardiothoracic surgeon Li Zhang, M.D., also appointed assistant professor of surgery, have joined Albany Medical Center’s Faculty Physicians’ group.
