I woke up Monday morning, Nov. 17, to 3-inches of snow on the ground. I talked on the phone to my sister, Pat Sykala, and then to my daughter, Kathy Carnevale, who got rained out at her job in Schaghticoke. Then I wrote my news and took it to Altamont.

When I was a little girl we learned about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans with stories about the hard winters and bountiful summers. Of course, we would decorate pumpkins and make costumes representing the Native Americans and the Pilgrims.

Monday, Nov. 10, was my day for writing news and going to the bank. Brandon came and had dinner with me and we planned to spend Veteran’s Day together.

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Brandon and Iain picked me up at 8:30 a.m. We picked up Samson and Nichole in Schoharie and then headed for the Veteran’s Day Parade in Albany.

Our front porch is a wonderful place to get a little quiet time, read, or just watch traffic. As I sit on the porch, on a warm fall day, I can enjoy all of the cars and trucks while making up stories about the people passing by and where they may be going in their travels. I ask myself, are they going to the overlook at Thatcher Park?
