It’s late October so it must be sectional playoff time. The soccer pairing for boys and girls were released on Tuesday.

Four local teams will be involved in their respective classes.





GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland football players walked off the field with their heads hung low. But they quickly picked them up when they heard the claps and cheers of the home crowd.



VOORHEESVILLE — They call him Waterbug because he is short in stature but quick, like the character in the movie The Longest Yard.

But again, Pat Jones came up big for the Voorheesville football team.



VOORHEESVILLE — The Blackbirds are healing and getting ready for the upcoming Class B Section II soccer playoffs.

However, an all-too-familiar foe could be waiting for them.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ cross-country team pulled off an upset on Tuesday.

The Bulldog harriers beat Western Athletic Conference rival Fonda-Fultonville to win the league title.





GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland football team finished the regular season with a loud statement and accomplished something that hasn’t been done in a decade.



GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland girls’ cross-country team is making strides in trying to become one of the top teams in the Suburban Council.





VOORHEESVILLE — The Voorheesville boys’ soccer team was all banged up as it headed into a big contest with rival Albany Academy last Thursday.

VOORHEESVILLE — For the third year in a row, players on the Voorheesville girls’ tennis team have been the queens of the court in Class B.

BERNE — It has been a frustrating season for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ volleyball team and its coach,Cathy Allen.

That year has been in the thoughts of the Guilderland Dutchmen football players and coaches this season. And it is not because of elementary-school flashbacks.





GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Dutchmen had a lot to play for on Saturday. Everything they had worked for was almost taken away.



VOORHEESVILLE — The Voorheesville football team took care of business last Friday night and is ready to wrap up the regular season with a surprisingly big contest.
