I wear the mask to show just a bit of humanity and solidarity

To the Editor:

United we stand

Though six feet apart,

Divided by distance

But never in heart.

I don’t wear the mask because I’m scared. I’m scared of a lot of things; coronavirus isn’t one of them. But you know what? There are a lot of people out there with illnesses and diseases that you know nothing about, who might just be a little bit scared.

Whether you believe it works or not, or whether the whole thing is a “scam” or not, is irrelevant — at least it’s something.

Things aren’t a scam because you don’t agree with them, or a conspiracy theory because you don’t believe them. So I wear the mask to show just a bit of humanity and solidarity — which is what I thought America was all about.

We don’t need to Make America Great Again. America has always been great. Not because of its presidents, not because of the Democrats or Republicans, but because of its people. All of its people, together.

To keep America great, it’s going to take all of us, together. I’m trying to do my part. What are you doing?
