RAVENA HIGH SCHOOL WAS
BURNED SUNDAY MORNING

Ravena suffered the loss of the $50,000 High school in a fire early Sunday morning. The fire was discovered by James Quinn and Sherwood Hazelton on their way home from work.

As they passed the High school they noticed the odor of smoke and, on going up to the building, discovered that the interior was ablaze.

An alarm was given, but the building and contents could not be saved. Stanley Rice, principal, entered the school and rescued the records and a prize flag given to the school by Philip Westover, a Civil war veteran.
The building was erected about 34 years ago, was a brick structure, and was considered one of the best equipped in the state.

BERNE

The Progressive Euchre club spent a very pleasant evening at the home of Andrew Miller on Friday last. Instead of finding Andrew with his silk shirt on, sitting beside the stove and his wife apparently reading a paper which proved to be upside down as the club did on a former visit, they had retired for the night. Nevertheless they were soon up and gave the club a hearty welcome.

VOORHEESVILLE.
Several men were laid off from the Duffy Mott cider plant the past week, the usual lay-off every fall due to a dullness in the business.

Presbyterian

Church Notes.

On Thursday evening two playlets were rendered by the Sabbath school on “Missions in the Near East.” There was a Christmas party and a children’s hour, with story telling by the children. A Christmas tree loaded with gifts for the children presented to them by a Santa Claus gave much pleasure to the little folks, and big ones, too.

CLARKSVILLE.
We are glad to know that we are going to have a doctor in our place. It is very needful, for many suffer for medical care in the winter.
