Patriot Guard Riders were part of Saturday’s ceremony in Westerlo to lay wreaths on the graves of veterans

To the Editor:

On Saturday, Dec. 18, for the third year in a row, along with the nationwide Wreaths Across America project, veterans buried in the cemeteries in the town of Westerlo were honored.

After a brief ceremony, wreaths were laid at each veteran’s grave.

This commemorated veterans from the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam who gave their service to their country.

It included veterans from all branches of service.

This moving event was organized by the Westerlo Heritage Museum and supported by the New York Patriot Guard Riders, who served as an honor guard; Boy Scout Troop 79; and community volunteers.
