A library is a community of people

To the Editor:

I am writing to express 100-percent support and appreciation for the Guilderland Public Library and its staff. Our library is a huge asset to the town of Guilderland.

A library is more than books and other media. A library is a community of people; some staff, some patrons — all participating in various ways. In Guilderland, we are proud of our library. It is so popular that it needs to be expanded, and we ta payers voted to do so.

When the library expansion was planned, no one dreamed of this pandemic. The staff has been creative in making so many programs and materials available to us.

Right now, they are facing the challenges presented by a building project and a pandemic.

I trust that the library staff and director are capable of developing a plan to accommodate the needs of associates while also providing valuable services to the community.

Will it be different? Yes. Will it be appreciated? Yes.
