To the Editor:

It's the time of year when traditions we've made often outweigh the time we have to enjoy them.

For several decades, the invitation to sled on Kirk Hill [at 167 Maple Ave. in Altamont] has been a tradition on the pages of The Enterprise.

Some neighbors have been moved to recount for us their memories of bringing their children — now grown — to sled down the modest hill.

Others have told us how they themselves used to.

Some years the snow is plentiful, other years it is scarce.

Regardless, a ritual started by my ancestors continues in Altamont — the invitation.
