Live Nativity celebrates the joy of Christmas

To the Editor:

This Sunday, during Altamont’s Festival of Lights, all are invited to the living Nativity at 3 p.m. at the Altamont Reformed Church on Lincoln Avenue. If you have never before attended, you will delight in live actors and animals re-enacting the very first Christmas in Bethlehem. If you have attended before, you’ll once again witness the magic one feels, listening to the story and music that celebrates the birth of  the Christ child.

Whether you attend church or not — you will revisit the joy you felt when you first heard this story! For many of us, this may be the only time we can celebrate the Nativity as a group because of gathering restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID.

Masks and social distancing will be required (except for the Holy Family — they are a real family!) And we will have music playing instead of singing. The presentation is about 15 to 20 minutes long — but we are outdoors, so dress warmly! Hope to see you there on Sunday!
