ALBANY — Robert Keenholts Uhl, known as Bob to his friends and family, died at home on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018. He was 92.

He was born in Albany, on Nov. 18, 1926, the son of the late Fredrick and Verna (née Keenholts) Uhl. A graduate of Altamont High School, he served in the United States Air Force for eight years and was stationed in Alaska, Oregon, and Mississippi

He worked for 40 years at Winthrop Laboratory in Rensselaer.

He was an active member of both St. John’s Lutheran Church in Altamont and the American Legion Post 977 in Altamont.

“He cherished his time in his yard and garden with family and friends,” his family wrote ina tribute.

Robert Keenholts Uhl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois (née Sands); their daughter, Linda Zell, and her husband, Brian; their granddaughter, Brianna Zell; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, Fredrick and Verna (née Keenholts) Uhl, died before him, as did his sister Marjorie Scilipote and his daughter Karen Uhl.

“The family would like to extend its gratitude to the Hospice team Sheri, Cylon, Nick, Jennifer, and Nettie and especially to our care team Paulette, Samantha, Lisa, Karen, Doreen, Donna, Michele, Stormie, and Summer,” the tribute said.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, at the Fredendall Funeral Home, at 199 Main St. in Altamont. A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont.
