R’ville Stage Creations is closing out its 2024 season with Joe Landry’s imaginative adaptation of the  holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

The show, styled as a 1940s radio broadcast, runs from Dec. 13 to 15 at Hilltown Commons in Rensselaerville.

Set in the studio of a vintage radio station complete with a sound-effects table, live piano accompaniment, and an ensemble of 14 local actors, the show retells the story of George Bailey, a man who discovers the profound impact his life has had on others.

“With themes of love, hope, and redemption, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ is a perfect way to celebrate the holiday season,” says a notice promoting the play.

Performances will take place in the Guggenheim Pavilion Theater at Hilltown Commons in Rensselaerville. Formerly the Carey Institute for Global Good, Hilltown Commons re-emerged this year with a mission to foster creativity and connection in the Helderberg Hilltowns.

This marks R’ville Stage Creations’ first production in the Guggenheim, which Director Tara Hostash praised as “perfect for this production” after hosting the group’s rehearsals and monthly Playhouse events throughout the year.

The play runs on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. Doors open one hour before each show. Shows are at the Guggenheim Pavilion, Hilltown Commons, 63 Huyck Road, in Rensselaerville.
