Join us, and consider Knox history books as gifts

Delivering the Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by Peter Lindemann of Howes Cave, spoke to a packed house at Knox Town Hall on Nov. 17, in an event sponsored by the Knox Historical Society. “Lincoln” also showed his trademark wit, and posed for photographs with onlookers.

To the Editor:
On behalf of the Knox Historical Society, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and The Altamont Enterprise for all of your support of our programs.  Your willingness to cover our activities is greatly appreciated.

We usually ask our attendees how they heard about the program, and the answer is most frequently, “We saw it in The Enterprise.”

We would also like to announce that we are having a half-price membership sale for the remaining six months of our current membership year!  This means an individual can become a member for just $5, and a whole family can join for $10.  For all of the details on membership, visit http://www.knoxhistoricalsociety.org/membership.html or call Dennis Barber at 860-7861.

Also, as gift-giving season is once again upon us, please consider giving the gift of local history to someone on your list.  We have several books available, including the reprint of the “Sesquicentennial History of Knox,” detailing the first 150 years of Knox history, and the story of the restoration of Knox School 5, “The History of a One Room Schoolhouse in Knox, NY,” by Dan Driscoll.  See http://www.knoxhistoricalsociety.org/khs-publications.html or call 860-7861 for details.

Thanks, again!

Nancy Frueh, secretary
