Parade with your pet and enjoy holiday festivities

To the Editor:
Altamont’s Winterfest, on Dec. 11, is quickly coming upon us. I will be coordinating this year’s Pet Pawrade, and would like to remind those in Altamont and the surrounding areas to come out and join in the fun by bringing your well-behaved pets to march along with a bagpiper and Santa leading the way!

We ask that all participants be at Altamont’s Orsini park by 11:30 a.m. — and the parade will begin at noon.

For those who want to watch the parade, the route will be as follows: From Orsini Park, head right onto Main Street, to Lincoln Avenue, then onto Jay Street, left onto Maple Avenue, and back to Orsini Park.

Santa will be there to talk with the children, along with The Altamont Enterprise generously taking free photos of pets and their owners in the park. There will be a prize for best-dressed pet, and best-dressed pet and owner, along with goodies for each animal participant compliments of Altamont Country Values (Agway).

There will be lots of other events and festivities going on in the park as well as in the village between noon and 4 p.m., including voting on your favorite tree at the Festival of Trees, ornament-making for the children, a living Nativity scene, wreath auction, fire pits, bake sales, raffle, local restaurant specials, food trucks, and more!

For up-to-date information, please visit www.altamontcommunitytradition.org. If you have any questions about the Pet Pawrade, please contact me via .

Hope to see you and your pets on Dec. 11, 11:30 a.m. at Orsini Park.
