Come out and support the 14th Run-Off-That-Turkey Trot

To the Editor:
With Thanksgiving Day just around the corner, it’s time for the 14th annual Run Off That Turkey Trot 5K and 2-Mile Community Walk. The event will be held at the Altamont Village Hall on Saturday, Nov. 26, starting at 9 a.m.

The event benefits local food pantries and features awards in many age groups and the walk division. We also have a prize for the best Turkey-related costume.

Those competing are asked to bring unexpired canned food items or dry goods.

We would love to see a solid representation from the Altamont Community at this year’s event.

Running gloves will be available to all those who pre-register while supplies. If there are any left, they will be given out to those who register on race day.

Registration is available online at https://www.zippy-reg.com/online_reg/index2022.php?e=1748

Registration fees online are: $25 for ages 13 to 69, $20 ages 70 and up, and $10 for children 12 and under — for both the 5K and 2-Mile. On race day, the fee goes up to $35 for all ages.

The course is simple: Start at Village Hall, go to Brandle Road, turn right, go up Brandle to the turnaround point and come back and finish in the parking lot.

Volunteers help make events such as this successful.

We are in need of at least 10 volunteers. Gloves go to all volunteers — no experience necessary; on-the-job training provided. Volunteers should email if interested in helping out as soon as possible.

Thank you to Hannaford (for supplying our refreshments), the Altamont Police Department, and all those in the village and beyond who help make events such as these very successful.

So, please come out and support the 14th Run-Off-That-Turkey Trot 5K and 2-Mile Community Walk, as a competitor, walker, or volunteer.
