Choice is good
To the Editor:
I was glad to read the Oct. 13 Enterprise that Ed Nicholson's father wanted voters to have the chance to vote for the candidate of their choice. To my recollection, this mindset has not been the thinking of the Democratic Party of Albany or the town of Knox.
In the 1970s, a group of Knox residents encouraged by Shirley Gaige Cronin formed a Conservative Club and it grew into the Albany County Conservative Party. We then had a third line on the election ballots on which to run a third choice or endorse another candidate.
In time, however, the Albany Democratic Party had its people change their enrollment to Conservative Party. In doing so the Conservative Party was then taken over by the Democrats. What did that do for choice?
Albany County Democrats encourage choice as long as it remains Democratic choice.
