Share joy and memories by decorating Altamont’s Community Tree

To the Editor:

This is an open invitation to the families and businesses of Altamont.

Though many of the traditional events cannot occur this very “different” year, as part of Altamont Community Tradition’s Festival of Lights theme for 2020, ACT is sponsoring a Community Tree for all to decorate.

Blank ornaments will be available right after Thanksgiving, free to both families and businesses (we ask please only one per family or business).

They will be available for pick-up starting the day after Thanksgiving at five locations: The Altamont Free Library, Bella Fleur/Remedies, Hungerford Market, Renue Spa, and at Orsini Park, next to the tree.

Please decorate one and place it on the tree from Dec. 1 to the day of celebration, Dec. 13. You may certainly donate an ornament of your own choosing for the tree instead.

There is no theme, but perhaps an opportunity to keep the kids busy or to place heartfelt thoughts of joy or memories for the whole village to enjoy.

For safety, please place the ornament only on the lower five feet to six feet of branches (ACT will periodically spread them out higher so all may see).

On Dec. 13, the Community Tree will be lit along with the village trees.

If you have any questions, please contact Dean Whalen at or text/call 518-573-9841.
