Bonnie Vincent

Bonnie Vincent, who was raised in Altamont, died on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, in her Florida home. She was 66. A lover of her job, her pets, and those around her, she was as sunny as the southern weather she enjoyed.

Ms. Vincent was born in Albany on May 24, 1950, and grew up in Altamont. Her mother, Delia Vincent, worked in the kitchens at both Altamont Elementary School and Cobb Memorial School. Her father, the late Gerald Vincent, supervised area Price Chopper delis.

Ms. Vincent graduated from Guilderland High School and moved to Albany. During the 1970s, she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she devoted herself to her job.

“She was a workaholic,” said her sister, Mary Martratt.

Ms. Vincent moved to Orlando, Florida, in 1984. Her sister said she made the move south because she had both a hatred for the cold and and a love of the ocean. The warm weather also gave her an opportunity to cultivate her garden.

“She loved her flowers,” said Ms. Martratt.

Ms. Vincent also loved her pet dogs, her sister said. Ms. Martratt described them in a tribute as “her babies.”

Living in Florida, Ms. Vincent continued to be a hard worker. She was an employee at AT&T and Lucent, where she worked on computers, her sister said.

Despite her strict attitude towards work, Ms. Vincent was bubbly and happy, said her sister, adding that she could talk to just about anybody.

“She couldn’t have had enough friends in her life,” her sister wrote.
