Kudos to Willsey, relentless advocate for public safety

To the Editor:

As we commemorate our veterans this week, it’s perhaps worth considering that the designation “Hometown Heroes” may include not only those who have literally fought on the battlefield.

Using facts and professional knowledge, former Berne Town Board member and engineer Joel Willsey has relentlessly advocated on behalf of public safety against forces of ignorance and local political thuggery.

Willsey’s concerns were resoundingly vindicated last week in town-wide elections [“Berne voters elect bipartisan board, oust Bashwinger,” The Altamont Enterprise, Nov. 5, 2025].

Kudos also to The Altamont Enterprise and its articulate courageous editor, Melissa Hale-Spencer, without which many of the above efforts would have gone unnoticed!
